2014 – 2021
Foundation and Early Steps
The Afghanistan Sports Journalists’ Federation (ASJF) was established in 2014 and became officially operational in 2015. In its early years, the federation focused on forming connections among sports journalists and exploring ways to support their work. Despite limited resources and challenging conditions, initial efforts were made to establish ASJF’s presence in the Afghan media landscape.
2021 – 2025
Suspension and Silence
After the Taliban regained control on August 15, 2021, the elected leadership of the ASJF (2020–2024) left the country. As a result, the federation ceased its activities. The organization entered a period of silence, with no formal operations or public engagement during these years.
2025 – NOW
Revival and New Chapter
The members and executive committee of ASJF have begun efforts to reactivate the organization in Afghanistan and to start a new chapter in the country's sports journalism.
