Kabul, Afghanistan – July 30, 2025 – A major volleyball tournament has officially begun in Maidan Wardak province, hosted by Salman Fars High School and organized by the provincial Directorate of Physical Education and Sports in collaboration with the local branch of the Volleyball Federation. The event features 36 teams from eight different provinces across Afghanistan.
The tournament aims to discover young athletic talent, promote healthy competition, and strengthen friendship and coordination among provinces. The opening ceremony was held as part of a special event attended by officials from the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, school teachers, students, and community elders. Attendees emphasized the importance of continuing such sports programs, viewing them as essential for guiding the younger generation in a positive direction.
The tournament is scheduled to run for several days, culminating in an awards ceremony where the winning teams will receive a championship trophy, medals, and certificates of appreciation.
Beyond competition, events like this play a vital role in promoting a culture of sport and reinforcing the values of unity, tolerance, teamwork, and brotherhood among Afghan youth.
