Kabul – July 7, 2025 – We are deeply saddened to hear that Afghan international cricket umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari passed away today in a hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after an illness.
The Afghanistan Sports Journalists’ Federation (ASJF) and all Afghan sports journalists express their condolences on his passing and share this grief with his family, friends, the Afghanistan Cricket Board, players, and fans.
Shinwari had served as an umpire in various international T20 and One Day matches over the past seven years. His passing is a great loss for Afghan cricket.
As he was the sole provider for his family and leaves behind young children, we call on the Afghanistan Cricket Board and national players to support his family in this difficult time.
